Don’t Miss the Magnitude | John 20:3-10

So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead. Then the disciples went back to their homes. — John 20:3-10
Here's what gets me. John and Peter were standing at a pivotal moment in history and didn't quite grasp the magnitude of it all just yet.
But let's face it, guys, we often find ourselves in the same exact moment. We read our Bibles, attend church, and maybe even serve in different ministry roles, yet there are times when we don't fully comprehend what Jesus is up to. We miss the gravity of what Jesus is doing when we are doing his work.
The resurrection wasn't just some everyday event but a cosmic shift in the heavenly realms. The disciples left that tomb, probably feeling a bit puzzled, not fully realizing the profound significance of what they had just witnessed. But soon enough, they would get it, and that understanding would set off a movement. A movement we are a part of even today.
So, my challenge to you today is this: Take a moment to reflect on the ministry Christ is doing through you. Don't just see it as a natural event. See it as a supernatural working. Let this perspective reshape how you look at what you say as you speak to a friend, minister to someone at work, or even disciple your family. Don't live in a state of bewilderment. Let the gravity of this spiritual reality sink deep into your soul. And then run with excitement the race set before you.
ASK THIS:
1. In what areas of your life or ministry do you find it challenging to grasp the full weight of what Jesus is doing? How can you shift your perspective to see these moments as not just "natural events," but as part of a larger "cosmic shift" in the spiritual realm?
2. What specific steps can you take this week to let the "gravity of this spiritual reality sink deep" into your soul? How can you live out this deeper understanding in your interactions with friends, coworkers, and family?
DO THIS: Don't miss the magnitude.
PRAY THIS: Lord, open my eyes to see the profound significance of each moment You place before me in my walk with You. Help me to live not in bewilderment but in awe of the supernatural work You're doing through me and around me. Amen.
PLAY THIS: Greatness Of Our God.
