What are you building your life on?
In today's devotional on 1 Peter 2:4-8, Peter describes Jesus as the Living Stone—the cornerstone chosen and precious to God, yet rejected by many.
Peter, the disciple Jesus renamed "Rock," does something remarkable in this passage. Instead of drawing attention to himself, he points entirely to Christ. Christianity is not merely about beliefs, religion, or moral improvement. It is about coming to a Person—Jesus Christ.
Peter says believers are "living stones" being built together into a spiritual house. But Jesus alone is the cornerstone.
In the ancient world, a cornerstone determined the alignment of the entire building. Every other stone was placed in reference to it. If the cornerstone was wrong, the whole structure would eventually fail.
The same is true today.
Everyone is building something. Careers are built. Families are built. Reputations are built. Dreams are built.
The question is not whether you are building.
The question is: What are you building your life on?
Storms have a way of exposing our foundations. Build your life on Christ, the cornerstone that will never fail.
