Is doing the right thing really worth it? There is a particular kind of disappointment that settles in when you realize that doing the right thing does not guarantee a good outcome. You were honest, but it cost you. You worked hard, but someone else got the credit. You responded with grace, but you were misunderstood. You tried to do what was right, and life got harder. In today’s devotional on 1 Peter 2:18-20, Peter speaks to believers suffering under unjust authority. He does not excuse injustice or endorse mistreatment. Instead, he teaches Christians how to remain faithful when doing good becomes costly. Peter says: “If when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God.” The world tells us to retaliate, fight back, and make others pay. But Peter reminds us that God sees what others miss. He sees the integrity that goes unrewarded. He sees the obedience that gets misunderstood. He sees the faithfulness no one applauds. Nothing offered to God is wasted. If you are being treated unfairly, this devotional will help you resist bitterness, entrust justice to God, and keep honoring Christ.
