God's Direction is More Important Than Your Expectations

Have you ever asked God for one thing, only for him to answer in a way you never expected? That is exactly what we are diving into today. I am Kelvin, the DeafBlind potter, and I am so glad you are here for this Bible study. We are walking through Luke chapter 9, verses 28 through 36, the Transfiguration. On that mountain, Peter, John, and James got a breathtaking glimpse of the glory of Jesus. Moses and Elijah appeared. A cloud rolled in. And then the Father spoke one clear command: Listen to him. Not just admire him. Not just be amazed by him. Listen to him. That is the heart of everything we are unpacking today. When I was 19, I was baptized in the Jordan River. My brothers dunked me three times, and I came up out of that water asking God to heal my DeafBlindness. Instead, I heard him say he would heal me in his own time and to go use my DeafBlindness for his plans. That was not the answer I wanted. But it was the direction I needed. Just like clay on the wheel does not understand every movement of the potter's hands, I had to learn to trust the pressure, the shaping, and the timing. Here is what I want you to carry with you today: God's direction is more important than my expectations. Sometimes he gives direction before he gives deliverance. Sometimes he calls us into obedience before the full plan is clear. The mountain moment does not last forever, but the command does.
