The Difference Between Believing in Jesus and Following Him

Most people can say who Jesus is, but far fewer have actually let him be Lord — and today we are going to talk about that gap. I am so glad you joined me for this week's Bible study. We are walking through Luke 9:18-27, where Jesus asks his disciples two questions that still land just as hard today. The first is about public opinion, who do the crowds say I am? But the second one gets personal fast. Who do YOU say I am? Peter gets it right. Jesus is the Messiah. But the very next thing Jesus does is talk about suffering, crosses, and daily surrender. Because knowing the right answer and actually following Jesus are two very different things. That truth has been real in my own life, and I think it will be real for you too. There came a point where I had to ask myself whether I was building God's kingdom or my own. I love Jesus. I believed in Jesus. But I was still holding on to the wheel, trying to control the shape of things. On the potter wheel, when the clay fights the potter, shaping becomes harder. The same is true in our lives. Real transformation does not begin with the right answer. It begins with surrender. Discipleship starts where control ends. So today I want to ask you something honest: what part of your life are you still sitting on the throne of?
