Feasting on God’s Word A Path to Spiritual Revival | Nehemiah 8:1-3

And all the people gathered as one man into the square before the Water Gate. And they told Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses that the Lord had commanded Israel. So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could understand what they heard, on the first day of the seventh month. And he read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law. — Nehemiah 8:1-3 CALL OUT: To all the Pastors and Staff who regularly tune in, I want to express my gratitude and love for you. I pray that this devotional will bring you blessings today. After the construction of the wall, the focus shifts towards rebuilding something far more important—a renewed commitment to God. The events in chapters 8-9 unfold over 24 days, beginning approximately a week after the wall's completion. On the first day, Ezra reads the Law of Moses, also known as the Torah. This public reading serves several purposes. It rekindles their connection to their past, reminding them of Moses, who first delivered the Law. It highlights their lack of awareness of the Law due to their years in captivity. Most importantly, it underscores the need for understanding and a recommitment to God's ways by those who know and understand the Scriptures. In our time, the call is no different. We live in a world filled with distractions, rapid changes, and countless challenges driving us further and further from God's truth. But if we want a time of revival, we need to remember what instigates revival. They do not begin with the splendor of building projects or even remarkable feats of leadership. Instead, revival starts with Scripture. Every revival begins with people adjusting their lives to the unchanging truth of God found only in Scripture. Scripture is the only truth. So, if you want spiritual revival and have been feeling a little starved or malnourished lately, don't merely rely on the spiritual highs of a current inspirational message or rocking worship set—get yourself into the Living Word of God. Like we do here every day. Taste it. Hunger for it. Feed on it. Drink it in. Come to the table and feast on the life it provides.
