Ask For Real Satisfaction | John 6:24-27

When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. — John 6:25-27 Sometimes we miss the point of Jesus. Therefore we want the wrong things from Jesus. You see, Jesus is compassionate. And because he is, sometimes he'll provide for our natural, temporal, and immediate needs. For these 5000, it was food to satisfy their hunger. And we all have primary needs like this — food, clothing, and shelter. And sometimes our needs go beyond these primary needs. We need supplemental items like employment, wisdom, advancement, or success. And we have all prayed for these things. But here's the deal. We can ask Jesus for anything; sometimes, he'll provide for us out of his compassion. But he also knows when we are abusing his compassion and missing the point of his provision. We learn from this text that he sometimes provides for a present need, giving us temporal satisfaction. But he only does it to point to perpetual satisfaction. Because endless satisfaction is only found in him, not in the material things of this world. So we are free to ask Jesus for anything. He may provide. But when he does, make sure you don't miss the point. The point is Jesus is all the satisfaction we will ever need. He is satisfaction not just for our bellies but our souls. And think in proportions here. If Jesus can satisfy 5000+ stomachs with some scraps from a boy's basket, how much more satisfied will your soul be if just all your satisfaction in him? ASK THIS: Do you need satisfaction? DO THIS: Ask Jesus for soulful overflow. Your other needs will be met too. PRAY THIS: God, fill my soul with you. PLAY THIS: Living In The Overflow.
