Leveraging Projects For Greater Purpose | Nehemiah 3:1-2

Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests, and they built the Sheep Gate. They consecrated it and set its doors. They consecrated it as far as the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Tower of Hananel. And next to him the men of Jericho built. And next to them Zaccur the son of Imri built. — Nehemiah 3:1-2 SHOUT OUT: Todd Harris who is leading men in Orlando, Florida. I am excited to be at ManFire in Christmas, Florida, and to speak with your men at your event. In Nehemiah Chapter 3, we witness the extraordinary organizational skills of Nehemiah, a man who orchestrated a massive building project. Forty-five distinct sections of construction, including the meticulous rebuilding of ten gates. This was a complex task. Nehemiah had to strategize the entire operation, coordinate groups, and ensure a steady stream of materials. This chapter is a testimony to his planning and leadership. But Nehemiah isn't just rebuilding walls; he's simultaneously rebuilding a people. You will see that Nehemiah, like a skillful coach, divided the workforce into about forty teams, each united by shared interests and geographical connections. He will use this moment to realize the vision and do something even better—bring the scattered people of God back together under God's leadership. The older I become as a man, husband, father, and leader, the more I learn this. Every moment God gives me is a teachable moment, and it's my responsibility to leverage these moments by inviting others along and teaching them as I go. This means every family gathering is a spiritual opportunity. Every trip is a spiritual opportunity. Every project is a spiritual opportunity. My spiritual responsibility as a leader is to see the opportunity and purposefully and intentionally lead others toward it. But this requires a little bit of thought and planning. And then, when the moment presents itself, you have to speak into it. So do that today. Look again at the projects and problems you have today, and start leveraging them. As you do, you will see unlimited opportunities for spiritual leadership. ASK THIS: Nehemiah effectively organized and led a diverse group of people to rebuild the walls and gates of Jerusalem, uniting them under a shared purpose. Reflect on your own life: In what areas are you called to be a leader, whether in your family, workplace, or community? How can you apply Nehemiah's principles of leadership to bring people together and accomplish a shared vision, while also nurturing their spiritual growth? Nehemiah saw the rebuilding of the walls not just as a physical construction project but also as an opportunity for spiritual renewal and unity among God's people. Consider your daily activities and responsibilities. How can you transform these tasks into spiritual opportunities for yourself and those around you? Are there specific projects or challenges you face that could be leveraged to foster spiritual growth and community building, much like Nehemiah did? DO THIS: Look at your projects and leverage them spiritually. PRAY THIS: Father, guide me to embrace the wisdom of Nehemiah in my leadership, that I may bring unity and purpose to every endeavor I undertake, building not just in the physical realm but in the spiritual, for Your glory.
