What happens when we forget who God is and what He’s done? Compromise creeps in, conviction dries up, and chaos follows. Judges 2 doesn’t just record Israel’s history—it reflects our own repeated drift when remembrance is replaced with rebellion. Chapter Summary: Judges 2 functions as a theological preview for the entire book. After Israel's failure to fully obey God by removing pagan worship, an angel of the Lord rebukes them. Following the death of Joshua, a spiritually apathetic generation arises—one that neither knows the Lord nor recalls His mighty acts. The result is a downward spiral of sin, suffering, and God’s merciful intervention through temporary judges. This chapter uncovers the consequences of spiritual amnesia and idolatry, but also God’s undeserved grace that points ahead to a greater Deliverer—Jesus. Reflection & Group Discussion Questions: 1.
