So they said again to the blind man, “What do you say about him, since he has opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.” — John 9:17
This is the correct response. When a man is transformed by Jesus, he should testify about Jesus.
But over time, the risk of doing this has increased. In our country, we used to be able to engage in a friendly debate about our beliefs and differences, and maybe we left the Thanksgiving table a little irritated, but still, we were willing to have the conversation and agree to disagree. Then over time, this developed into a social expectation of keeping our beliefs to ourselves. Over even more time, human resource departments told us there was a time and place to talk about our faith, but not during work or school. And then, finally, they prohibited proselytizing in the workplace and schools of learning altogether. But now, if you are not proselytizing the cultural agenda and its mandates, even when they oppose your faith, you are socially de-platformed or fired.
Just a few days ago, I posted a video entitled A Case of Gender & Identity Confusion, and guess what? Someone shared this, and I was put in Facebook Prison for it. You are free to go back and listen to it if you like, and I hope you do, because there was nothing overtly substantial in it. I believe everything I said was founded on biblical truth. But because it did not align with popular preferences, I was put in "Social Prison" for my beliefs. And it is pretty easy to predict that this response to the truth and our testimony will increase. Institutions, platforms, and corporations have taken control of the conversation, and the freedoms we once had are going away.
And guess what? You are going to be faced with the same decision this blind man faced. Will you testify to the transformation that Jesus has had in your life? Will you testify about it if it costs you something? Your job? Your reputation? Your friends? Your family? And eventually, your life?
As godly men, we need to start assessing and addressing this now. We should adjust how we live so that we can testify about Jesus as far as it will take us during our time. Because one day, the freedoms we have in this country will be taken from us. And then our testimony won't cost us our job. It will cost us our life.
ASK THIS: Are there adjustments you need to make to testify about Jesus? What are they? How will you make them? How far are you willing to go?
DO THIS: Testify and make the adjustments you need to do so.
