God can instantly eliminate evil if He wants to. Doing so would mean destroying all beings created in His image (Imagers), who share His attributes like free will. These communicable attributes make humans and other beings God's representatives and partners, but also mean they can rebel and misuse their freedom, leading to evil and suffering. God, being omniscient, knew this risk but chose to create us anyway because having a family of free, like-minded partners was worth the potential for rebellion and pain. While God hates evil and suffering, He values the existence of His created family more.
