You’ve Been Taught to Fight Back… Jesus Says This Instead

What do you do when someone comes after you and every instinct you have says fight back? That's not a hypothetical. That's Tuesday. In Luke 6:27–38, Jesus gives one of the most challenging commands in all of Scripture — love your enemies, bless those who curse you, pray for the people who are actively trying to tear you down. And He doesn't offer it as a suggestion. He offers it as the standard. This isn't a weakness. This is the hardest kind of strength there is. In this study, we walk through three things this passage reveals: → Love your enemies — Not because they deserve it. But because Jesus trusts you enough to fight for you when you stop fighting for yourself. → Love beyond what's normal — Anybody can love the people who are good to them. Jesus is calling us to reflect something the world can't produce on its own — the mercy of the Father. → Stop judging. Start forgiving. — Forgiveness isn't about the other person. It's about what Jesus wants to do inside you when you finally let it go.
