With the progression of the beatitudes, Spurgeon said, "We are to be 'first pure, then peaceable.' Our peaceableness is never to be a compact with sin, or an alliance with that which is evil." So Jesus continues to teach us of the 'other-worldliness' of His followers. He pronounces blessing on those who are characterized as peace-makers (rather then peace breakers). Join us this coming Lord's Day for "Blessed are the Peace-makers"-Matt 5:9 for this characteristic is true of sons of God.
