2-Husbands Like Christ, pt2

In the chapter, 'How Much is She Worth to You?' Lou Priolo confronts how the feminists have it wrong; that biblical Christianity has, in fact, done much to elevate the female sex. He writes in his excellent resource THE COMPLETE HUSBAND, "If you've been instructed in the elementary principles about domestic responsibilities delineated in the Bible, you probably know already that one of the two principal responsibilities that are outlined in the New Testament for your wife is that she is to honor or reverence you (her other predominant duty is to be submissive to you). What you may not realize is that YOU are also commanded to honor her. 'You husbands likewise, live with [your wives] in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered' (1 Pet 3:7). Before explaining further, let me point out that it's precisely this lack of honor that so often disposes a husband to be domineering, dictatorial and harsh in his attempts to be the manager of his home. Rather than being the 'loving leader,' a husband who does not honor his wife as the Bible commands tends to become a bully. If your wife accuses you of abusing your spiritual leadership, you should read this short chapter with special interest. It may be that your lack of respect for her, and for the position and place that God has given her in your life, has impaired your ability to lead her effectively." In case you don't have Priolo's book, or have not read the chapter, have no fear! This Wednesday at 6:00 during midweek Bible study of "The Blueprint of a Healthy Marriage" we'll finish the topic of "Husbands Like Christ" as we look at his roles as lover, learner, & leader. May God help us husbands render loving, learning-leadership to the precious wives He has blessed us with! Join us if you are able!
