In his book DO YOU BELIEVE WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT YOU? (How a Right View of Your Identity in Christ Changes Everything) Steve Viars writes, "WHO ARE YOU? You carry your answer to that question around your home, community, workplace, and church. But how does your self-image compare to God's perfect understanding of you?"
The book encourages you to take misgivings about your identity for the Bible's life-changing affirmation of who you were made to be. It will help you let go of painful thoughts and feelings that accompany a broken self-image. It will help you develop positive habits for your mind and body that empower you to daily put God's truths about your worth into practice. And finally, it will help you grow in your love for Jesus as you realize how His death, burial, and resurrection have eternally changed who you are able to be.
Perhaps we could prime the pump for our need for studying a biblical view of self during midweek Bible study and our lesson, "Who Am I?" Let's gain a greater confidence in our own skin and personal identity, as we learn to glory in God's design and the new creatures we are in Christ Jesus!
