Spurgeon, as he reflected on the birth & incarnation of Jesus Christ exclaimed, "The birth of Jesus is the grandest light of history, the sun in the heavens of all time. It is the pole-star of human destiny, the hinge of chronology, the meeting-place of the waters of the past and the future." Well, consider the scores of Christmas cards you've received that cite Isaiah's promise of this child. 'For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). Wouldn't you like to understand that verse in historical-grammatical context for the next time you hear it cited in Handel's Messiah or read it on your next card? Join us this coming Lord's Day for "The Birth and Reign of the Prince of Peace" (Isa 9:1-7). Come join us as we meditate on this grandest light of history, the great Light of salvation!
