It was the imperial city of Hammurabi and Nebuchadnezzar, yet at its peak it fell suddenly in a single night by God's decree over 2,500 years ago. Part 2 traces the rise, character, and ultimate fall of Babylon while drawing a theological thread from Daniel to Revelation, showing that earthly power is always subject to God’s authority. Nebuchadnezzar, though a brilliant and strategic ruler, exemplifies the tension between human pride and divine sovereignty: he elevates faithful captives like Daniel and his companions, witnesses God’s power through miracles and prophetic revelation, yet repeatedly returns to arrogance until he is personally humbled. Daniel’s interpretations—of the statue and later the beasts—reveal a succession of empires, each declining in glory and ultimately replaced by God’s eternal kingdom. Babylon’s fall under Belshazzar dramatically fulfills this pattern, as arrogance, idolatry, and false security culminate in divine judgment, historically confirmed and theologically framed as “the writing on the wall.” The narrative then expands beyond history into symbolism: Babylon becomes more than a city—it represents a recurring, global system of human pride, materialism, and opposition to God. In Revelation, this “Babylon the Great” embodies seductive wealth, corrupt power, and spiritual unfaithfulness, warning believers across all ages not to be enticed by its allure. While interpretations of prophetic details often vary, the central message remains clear and consistent: God rules over history, opposes prideful empires, and guarantees final victory through Christ.
