Yahweh’s Supremacy and the Reclamation of the Nations - Michael Heiser

The Biblical view of supernatural rebellion: The original rebel of Genesis 3 becomes the lord of the dead and holds power over humanity unless they join God’s kingdom. Jesus’ ministry, including the casting out of demons and sending out 70 disciples (symbolising the nations), marks the start of reclaiming the world from these supernatural powers. Jesus’ resurrection is seen by Paul as the decisive event that nullifies the authority of these evil rulers and opens the way for all nations to return to God’s family. The Bible acknowledges other spiritual beings (“gods” or Elohim) but insists that only Yahweh is uniquely sovereign, omnipotent, and creator. The message is that, through Jesus, God now calls all people to reject other gods and return to Him, emphasising Yahweh’s supremacy among real supernatural beings, not just fictional ones.
