Faithful Friends & Fellow Workers-Romans 16:1-16

Jesus said in Luke 11:43, 'Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seat in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplace.' Question, do you seek to be greeted or do you seek to greet others? Biblical counseling professor, Stuart Scott, states in 31 WAYS TO BE A 'ONE ANOTHER' CHRISTIAN, "Consider this short conversation, one that you will likely overhear quite often, 'Hi, How are you?' 'Fine, thanks. How are you:' 'Good, thanks.' Today's greetings are often little more than a ritual. The 'Nice meeting you' and 'How are you?' mean little more than 'I acknowledge you.' There does not seem to be much meaning in today's familiar greetings. Unfortunately, this is true in the Christian arena as well. Christian greetings are no longer different from the greetings of this world. Greetings for believers need more depth and intimacy. God does not require small talk. He requires a genuine greeting of brotherly love." Friends, whether you find the one-another command in our passage at hand (Rom 16:16), 1 Pet 5:14, 1 Cor 16:20, 2 Cor 13:12, or 1 Thess 5:26, greeting one another with a holy kiss remains one of the many privileged obligations that are held before us for healthy Body life in the NT. While we're not advocating some sort of sloppy agape, believers today are to show genuine affection in their greetings to one another.
