Jesus Calls the First Disciples | Luke 5:1–11

In this Bible study from Luke 5:1–11, we explore the moment when Jesus calls His first disciples. After a long night of catching nothing, Peter and the fishermen are tired and discouraged. Yet when Jesus tells them to go back out and drop their nets again, Peter chooses to trust Him. The result is a miraculous catch of fish so great that their nets begin to break. But the miracle was not the real point. Jesus was inviting them into something far greater. Through this passage we see a powerful truth: Jesus meets us where we are, calls us to repent, and invites us to follow Him. Peter felt unworthy. He fell to his knees and confessed his sin. Yet Jesus didn’t reject him—He called him. “Do not be afraid.
