Thomas Watson declared, "Fear of God is a leading grace; it is the first seed God sows in the heart. When a Christian can say little of faith and perhaps nothing of assurance, yet he dares not deny but he fears God. God is so great that he is afraid of displeasing Him and so good that he is afraid of losing Him." Friend, do you fear God? Are you growing in the fear of the LORD? William Gurnall said, "We fear man so much because we fear God so little. One fear cures another." We might have over-anxious concern about the future or things. Perhaps we're guilty of fearing man. Yet, the greatest way to put off sinful fear is to put on rightful fear, as we learned in our last study. Jesus said in Matt 10 not to fear man, but to fear God.
