They Misunderstood Jesus Too—Here's What He Did

I have spent a lot of my life trying to get people to understand me. The kid with the box strapped to his chest and the hearing aids in his ears. The deaf blind man making pottery and sharing the gospel. The guy people say is faking his blindness. And somewhere along the way Jesus taught me something that changed everything. I don't need everybody to understand me. I just need to follow Him. That is exactly what this week's passage is about. In this study we look at something Jesus says that is so honest it kind of stings. John the Baptist lived one way and people said he had a demon. Jesus ate with sinners and people called him a glutton and a drunk. Two completely different styles. The same rejection. And Jesus points that out and says something that I think a lot of us need to hear today. The problem was never about the style. The problem was people weren't willing to surrender. Here is what this passage is showing us: If people misunderstood Jesus they are going to misunderstand you too. That is not a maybe. That is a guarantee. And the sooner you accept that the freer you become. Building your life around approval is a trap. Jesus never called you to live for approval. He called you to follow Him. There is a big difference between those two things. Obedience over approval is what humility actually looks like in real life. Not having every answer. Not having everything figured out. Just saying because you say so Jesus and keep moving forward. In this episode I get honest about what it felt like growing up as the kid nobody fully understood, what years of trying to prove myself actually cost me, and why being misunderstood stopped feeling like a problem once I stopped needing everyone to get it.
