Do You Have To Believe In The Trinity To Be Saved? – Michael Heiser

Mike explains that he does not believe in adoptionist Christology and instead affirms eternal Sonship within a Trinitarian godhead framework, seeing Jesus as the eternal second‑Yahweh figure co‑eternal with the Father and the Spirit rather than a creature who becomes divine at some point in time. He argues that once one recognizes the “binarian” pattern in the Old Testament (two distinct Yahweh‑figures), the New Testament then brings in the Spirit as a third person, such that the full Trinitarian picture already lies implicit in the biblical pattern and does not require an adoptionist model. Regarding a Binitarian who accepts the orthodox Father–Son relationship but denies the personal deity or co‑eternal status of the Holy Spirit, he distinguishes this from mere personality disputes about the Spirit and treats it as a failure to see the full three‑in‑one testimony of Scripture, yet he insists such a person is not automatically damned because salvation is tied to believing in Christ as the sole Savior, not to the ability to articulate precise Trinitarian theology. He appeals to passages like John 3:16 and Romans 5:8 to show that the object of saving faith is Christ’s work and the exclusive necessity of that work, not doctrinal mastery of adoptionism, subordinationism, or eternal Sonship; he also notes that even groups like the Arians, who held heretical views on the Son’s eternality, were still treated as brethren as long as they regarded Christ as the one and only means of salvation. Finally, he emphasizes that First John’s “Spirit of God” test (confessing that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh) ultimately targets a refusal to accept Jesus as the Messiah and the unique Savior who takes away the sins of the world, not a shortcoming in technical Trinitarian formulation, and therefore a Binitarian who affirms Christ’s exclusive salvific role can still be regarded as a genuine brother in Christ, even if their theology is considered mistaken from a Trinitarian perspective. #Bible #Jesus #God #Faith #Christ #Church #Prayer #Grace #Truth #Hope #Love #Amen #Blessed #Gospel #Worship #Spirit #Peace #Saved #Holy #Lord #mankind #humanity #corruption #perversion #bible #bibleverse #michaelheiser #jesuschrist #eden #serpent #genesis #ezekiel #revelation #giants #sorcery #witchcraft #destruction #Balaam #Exorcism #Demons #Heiser #SpiritualWarfare #Peter #Jude #Nephilim #Watchers #UnseenRealm #CosmicGeography #Rephaim #FalseTeaching #Rebellion #HolyGround #Principalities #Powers #DivineCouncil #Psalm82 #ChurchPlanting All rights to this material belong to their respective owners.
