Why Jesus wants us to Celebrate Passover, Not Easter Did you know that “Easter” is only called Easter in English and German? Almost every other language calls it some form of Pascha — straight from the Greek New Testament — or Pesach, the Hebrew word for Passover. So what does that mean? It means that for most of the world, the celebration of Jesus’ death and resurrection is explicitly connected to Passover. But for English speakers, that connection has been blurred.
