Can a house catch leprosy? In Leviticus 13–14, the same condition affects a person’s skin, fabric, even the walls of a house. But whatever this word means, it’s clearly more than a skin disease. The Hebrew word is tzara’at. And it isn’t what we call Hansen’s disease. It’s not a coincidence: Immediately after preaching the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus comes down and heads straight towards a man with leprosy. Could Jesus be providing an IRL illustration for the sermon he just preached? What leprosy reveals, is that impurity is problematic when it’s more than skin deep. And when it spreads spreads over a surface. But in Jesus, purity runs deeper. #sermon #SermonOnTheMount #BibleStudy #Jesus
