Paul subordinates the Mosaic Law, given through angelic mediation (possibly the Angel of the Lord), as a temporary restraint on this cosmic evil to preserve Israel as God's remnant and conduit for the Messiah, contrasting it with the universal Abrahamic promise that transcends the Law's national scope.
