A Triad of Vices to Put Off, To the Glory of God, pt1

Puritan commentator, Matthew Henry noted, "Covetousness is commonly a master-sin and has the command of other lusts." Paul clearly teaches that covetous & envying people will not inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Cor 6:9-10; Rom 1:29). So if a believer is vitally concerned about putting off sinful practices and replacing them with righteous habits, its imperative that we understand specifically what these sinful vices are. Remember, biblical change does not take place in fuzzy land or with generalities, but by confessing and repenting of real sin issues, no matter how trivial they may appear on the surface. The beloved apostle says he would not have been able to accurately identify sin without the aid of God's Law (Rom 7:7). This study should help us not only specifically recognize sinful ongoing practices in our lives as saints, but we'll also see how in God's glorious reign of grace He's made provision for a plethora of Gospel counterparts, like contentment, gratitude, thankfulness, rejoicing, etc.
