This imagery of the "one who rides the clouds," originally a pagan Ugaritic title for the god Baal and repurposed five times in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 33:26, Psalm 68:4, Psalm 104:3, Isaiah 19:1) to assert Yahweh's supremacy over rival deities like in Elijah's contest at Carmel, exclusively denotes God except in Daniel 7, where the Ancient of Days (God on a fiery throne amid divine council, echoing Ezekiel 1) grants eternal dominion to a distinct "one like a son of man" approaching on the clouds.
