In the Old Testament, God gave the nation of Israel many rites, rituals, & ordinances to observe as signs of belonging to Him. One such rite was circumcision and so important was it that no man could be a part of God's people if he did not partake in it that God had established (Gen 17:9-14). The responsibility to participate in other ordinances like the feasts and others was just as grave. In the New Covenant God has established baptism and the Lord's Supper as perpetual ordinances, in which the Church is to frequently participate. They are just as serious. Unfortunately many professing Christians today think of them as merely nice suggestions that they can take or leave. But on the contrary, they have been designed to be essential elements of the corporate worship of the church in which all the members must participate. This coming Lord's Day we will be celebrating both ordinances and engaging in a study of "The Ordinances: Visible Signs to Celebrate Christ's Presence With His People." Come together with us for worship!
