Likewise, the Hebrew word “sin” is translated various different ways throughout the Old Testament: including sin, offence, purify, cleanse, purge… One use of the root word for “sin” means to remove or to cancel an offence with Bible commentaries suggesting that purifying from sin or uncleanness is what the Sin Offering is doing.
