He then steps back into a broader theological framework: God willingly risked this corruption because he chose to create a human family with genuine freedom, knowing they—and even non‑human imagers—would abuse that freedom, yet still preferred a world with free creatures over a world without them, so there is no “Plan B” and no wholesale annihilation as the answer to evil. Heiser connects this to New Testament language about believers as “sons and daughters of God” and “seed of Abraham,” showing that Paul and John are drawing on the Old Testament idea of a divine family council, in which humans are destined to share in God’s rule, participate in the restoration of the nations, and even one day “judge angels” and exercise authority over the nations with Christ, depicted in Revelation as sitting on his throne and ruling with an iron scepter, while the faithful divine beings remain in their roles but humans are exalted to share dominion.
