C. H. Spurgeon exclaimed, "What a wonderful atonement is that which hides from God that which cannot be hidden, so that God does not see what, in another sense, He must always see, and forgets what it is impossible for Him, in another sense, ever to forget!" Consider that, beloved, that through the sacrifice of Himself, Jesus Christ has fully satisfied the justice of God (Heb 2:17; 1 Jn 4:10), propitiated the wrath of God (Rom 3:25-26), procured reconciliation (Rom 5:10), and purchased an everlasting inheritance in the Kingdom of Heaven for all those the Father has given Him (Jn 6:39; 10:14-15, 28-29; 17:2, 9, 24). What a glorious salvation has been wrought through the atoning death of Jesus Christ! And that is why we continue in our study of "The Doctrine of Salvation" to unpack for a 3rd time the Bible's teaching on "Atonement, pt3". With the many wrong theories about the atoning death of Christ, we need to clearly understand the message of the Gospel that we so passionately proclaim. For, as Spurgeon said at another time, "To deny the great doctrine of atonement by the blood of Jesus Christ is to hamstring the gospel, and to cut the throat of Christianity."
