📖 To Work It and Keep It | The Nobility of Work (Genesis 2:10–15)
Is work a curse… or a gift from God?
Many people today feel trapped in dead-end jobs, burned out by career pressure, or confused about their purpose. But the Bible gives a radically different view of work. In Genesis 2:15, before sin ever entered the world, God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden “to work it and keep it.”
That means something profound: work was part of God’s good creation before the Fall.
In this sermon, we recover the biblical doctrine of the dignity and glory of work—a truth desperately needed in an age of laziness, workaholism, purposelessness, and confusion about vocation.
In this sermon:
✅ Why work is a creation ordinance
✅ Why all honorable labor has dignity before God
✅ How the Fall made work painful and frustrating
✅ Why sloth is a serious but neglected sin
✅ Biblical encouragement for young men and young women
✅ The difference between religious and secular vocation
✅ Why your works can never save you—only grace in Christ can
Whether you are a pastor, mechanic, homemaker, businessman, teacher, student, or retiree, this message will help you understand how your labor can glorify God.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23
