What does "sola fide" actually mean... really?
Recently, evangelical YouTuber Ryan from NeedGod.net (@NeedGodnet) had a discussion with an Oriental Orthodox apologist named Anthony (@ApostolicOrthodoxy) which provided us with a good example that many "Protestants" (loosely understood) today have forgotten to answer to a central objection of the Reformation regarding justification by faith alone.
In this stream, we slow the conversation down and look at why modern Protestant answers often sound weaker than they should. Ryan is right to try and defend "sola fide", but the older Protestant tradition had deeper categories than simply saying “works are fruit”. Along the way, we will look at James 2, Romans 4, and various other biblical landmarks to iron out the confusion and show why "faith alone" — when properly understood — remains biblical, historic and true.
