Roman Catholic apologist Trent Horn (@TheCounselofTrent) recently argued that Protestants commit what he calls the “Word of God” fallacy when defending sola Scriptura. But his argument isn't merely aimed at refuting sola Scriptura. It's actually used to try and bolster the Roman Catholic rule of faith. But is that enough?
Protestants must get out of the mindset of always thinking in the defensive when it comes to the debate over Scripture and authority. And they must not lose sight of the fact that attacking sola Scriptura is not a positive case for the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, etc. rules of faith.
So in this episode of Canon & Creed, we slow Trent’s argument down and ask the question Protestants need to keep asking: Okay… and then what?
