Not everyone who sees the miracles sees the Messiah. You can walk with Jesus, watch Him work, even say the right things—and still be blind to who He really is. Summary: In Mark 8, Jesus moves from meeting physical needs to exposing spiritual blindness. He feeds the hungry, warns about the corrupting influence of religious pride, heals a man in stages, draws out Peter’s confession, and then drops the weight of discipleship on His followers. This chapter confronts us with a question: Are you truly seeing Jesus—or just staring past Him? Reflection and Small Group Discussion Questions: 1. Why do you think Jesus felt compassion for the crowd before feeding them (v.2)? What does this say about His nature? 2. What spiritual “leaven” still creeps into our thinking today (v.15)? 3. Have you ever been spiritually blind to something right in front of you? What changed? 4. Why do you think Jesus healed the blind man in stages (vv.22–26)? What does that say about how our faith grows? 5. Peter gets the words right (“You are the Christ”)—so why is he still rebuked just a few verses later? 6. What’s the difference between knowing about Jesus and truly seeing Him? 7. Jesus tells the disciples not to speak of His identity—why do you think timing was so important? 8. What does it practically look like to “deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow” Jesus today? 9. Where do you sense God is calling you to surrender something in your life? 10. How does the promise of Jesus' return (v.38) affect how you live right now?
