Breaking Down Jesus' "Prophecy" About Big Pharma

Does a verse in Revelation 18 teach that pharmaceutical drugs are going to be the main catalyst of deception to lead all mankind astray? I got an email from a concerned friend asking me about the word “pharmakeia” in scripture, particularly in Revelation 18:23. It says: “For your merchants were the greatest in the world, and you deceived the nations with your sorceries.” This word for sorceries is “pharmakeia”. It’s talking about drugs, poisons, and sorcery, and how it’s connected to magical arts, idolatry, and witchcraft. Bad theology hurts people, and sometimes kills people. So, is this bad theology? Is this interpreted incorrectly?
