When the Container Becomes the Faith

Jesus did not leave behind a denomination. He did not leave a handbook. He dealt with people directly, precisely, and in real time. That creates a real problem for anyone trying to build a religion around him after he is gone. In this video, I look at what happens when living encounter has to become tradition, tradition becomes structure, and structure starts taking itself more seriously than the center that gave rise to it. Because some of what went wrong in Christianity was not just corruption. Some of it was scale. Jesus dealt with persons. Institutions deal with populations. And the bigger the structure gets, the more it has to simplify, standardize, and generalize. That is where something alive can start turning into machinery. That is also why Neo-Eclectic Christianity does not read the Bible flat. It treats Scripture as a three-tiered vessel: the direct words of Jesus first, the witness around him second, and the wider biblical record third. Not to throw the rest away, but to keep Christ at the center of interpretation instead of buried under the structure built around him. Because once the container becomes primary, preserving the institution can start replacing faithfulness to Christ.
