Who's Driving Drift and Direction

Most people assume that as long as they're moving, they're headed somewhere. But motion and direction are not the same thing. And the gap between them — quietly, gradually — is where drift happens.
This video explores what it actually means to be oriented in your life. Not productive. Not busy. Oriented. Using the framework of operating a vehicle, we look at what happens when no one is steering — how forces keep acting whether you're engaged or not, how the road keeps curving whether you're ready or not, and how drift isn't a dramatic collapse but a slow loss of contact with direction.
We also look at the difference between rest and stalling, why inattention isn't neutral, and what it means to reach back for the wheel — even after a long time in the passenger seat.
This is part of the Perspectives on Orientation series, exploring modern problems through the lens of direction, meaning, and the human drive toward coherence.
It's never too late to take the wheel. But the longer you wait, the harder that turn becomes.
