What really happened on the Day of Pentecost — and what did Peter mean when he quoted Joel 2? Acts 2 holds answers most Bible studies never unpack.
📖 In this verse-by-verse study of Acts 2:7–23, Les Feldick digs into the miraculous gift of languages at Pentecost, explaining how the twelve disciples spoke not just in foreign languages but in the exact regional dialects of Jews gathered from across the known world. Peter's sermon addresses the crowd — Jews only, not Gentiles — and quotes the prophet Joel to explain what they were witnessing. But was all of Joel's prophecy fulfilled at Pentecost? Les carefully shows that Joel 2:28–32 contains a prophetic gap: part was fulfilled at the First Advent, and part — the cosmic signs of blood, fire, and smoke — still awaits fulfillment in the Tribulation. He then cross-references Romans 10:8–13 to show how "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" appears in both Joel and Paul — but under two completely different covenants and circumstances.
