PART SIX: Packing Light: Packing Right
In this episode of St.Aub, we reflect on one of the most misunderstood qualities of the spiritual life: humility. Many of us have heard humility taught as something we simply need to practice more consistently, as in be more patient, more gentle, less prideful. But what if lasting change happens another way? What if transformation begins not with trying harder, but by becoming a different kind of person?
Drawing from the teachings of Jesus, Scripture, and the wisdom of the saints, St.Aub explores the image of abiding in the vine and allowing God to do the slow work of pruning the soul. Humility is not self-hatred or weakness. It is the fruit of growing closer to God, becoming more aware of our need for mercy, and learning to let go of pride, self-importance, and self-will.
This episode invites you to think about humility in a deeper way. In a culture shaped by self-promotion and self-focus, humility can feel foreign and even undesirable. Yet the path of Christ is one of surrender, dependence, and quiet transformation. As we remain close to God, He slowly reshapes us into people marked by gentleness, peace, mercy, and love.
If this reflection resonated with you, consider subscribing and returning as we continue exploring the Godward path together. You’re always welcome here. And if you think of someone who might need this, feel free to share it.
