PART EIGHT: Soul Tending
In this episode of St.Aub, we begin a new section of the journey by exploring the daily habits that cultivate a healthy soul. If the deepest purpose of life is communion with God, then that relationship doesn't happen by accident. Like a well-tended garden, the soul requires intentional care, healing, and steady attention if it is to flourish.
Drawing from Scripture and the wisdom of the Desert Fathers and Eastern Orthodox tradition, St.Aub reflects on the three forces that continually pull us away from God: the world, the flesh, and the devil. In a culture filled with distraction, self-indulgence, and spiritual confusion, tending the soul requires a deliberate choice to pursue God's presence, resist what weakens the soul, and faithfully walk in obedience.
This episode invites you to consider the condition of your own soul. Are the habits of your daily life drawing you closer to God, or quietly pulling you away? While we cannot transform ourselves by willpower alone, God's grace works together with our willing response to heal, strengthen, and restore the soul over time.
If this reflection resonated with you, consider subscribing and returning as we continue exploring the Godward path together. You’re always welcome here. And if you think of someone who might need this, feel free to share it.
Topics in this video include tending the soul, spiritual disciplines, the world the flesh and the devil, Christian spiritual formation, Eastern Orthodox spirituality, obedience to God, the Desert Fathers, and the Godward life.
