C.T. Studd was a well-known cricket player & when he turned down the renown of an athletic career said, "What is all the fame and flattery worth...when a man comes to face eternity?" He spent most of his adult life as a career missionary instead. Perhaps you have heard of his commitment in the poem he wrote. "Two lines I heard one day, traveling along life's busy way; bringing conviction to my heart, and from my mind would not depart; only one life, 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last. Only one life, yes only one, soon will its fleeting hours be done; then, in 'that day' my Lord to meet, and stand before His Judgment seat; only one life, 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last." During mid-week Bible study we will continue to consider church history, looking this week at the Gospel going forth through the missionary endeavors of the 19th & 20th centuries.
