🔴Sun Live: Discernment Ministries | Confusion Over Discipline

This is a part two of our Sunday Live, as we had technical issues with our internet connection. (Our son Maximus was vacuuming during the livestream and unplugged the router. 😆) So this is part two of the broadcast, where I dove into questions about discernment ministries, dealing with boundaries with the opposite sex, ROCD attraction issues and needing some clarity on what biblical and fruitful discipline looks like. My first question had to do with online ministries that are exposing pastors and ministries. He asks: "There’s something I’ve been reflecting on recently that I’d really appreciate your thoughts on. It relates to a growing trend in the Christian online space—particularly on YouTube—where entire ministries are being built around “exposing” pastors or public Christian figures. While I recognize the need for discernment and accountability, it seems this has morphed into a culture of hyper-inspection. Bible teaching videos often get far less traction than content focused on scandal or error, and some of these creators have built massive platforms off the back of controversy. Interestingly—and tragically—one major voice in this space was recently exposed for a double life and an affair. He has since shut down his channel. This has raised a number of questions for me: What are your thoughts on the spiritual and psychological impact of these types of ministries? Do you think they’re ultimately helpful or harmful, especially for believers who already wrestle with things like OCD, scrupulosity, or spiritual hypervigilance? How do we balance healthy discernment with the danger of turning into spiritual watchdogs?" I also address a second part of his question that has to do with ROCD and learning how to relate to the opposite sex. A listener sent in a question about trying to understand discipline from a biblical and healthy perspective. He was asked to join a Christian fight club group and is concerned about some of the requirements that the group has. I spend quite a bit of time talking about the need men have for masculine experiences that help bring out the leadership, confidence and adventure in a man's heart, even though some groups that can latch onto this in unhealthy ways. I also address a question about Jordan Peterson and my views on his work. ❓Questions? markdejesus.com/questions 📘 The Myth of the Perfect One: https://bit.ly/44kZu7B 📘Get The OCD Healing Journey Book Today: https://markdejesus.com/the-ocd-healing-journey-book/ ➡️Get a FREE eBook on the Father’s Love: https://bit.ly/3fGu6t3 ▶️Mark's resource library: https://markdejesus.com/topics/ 👉Support future videos: https://markdejesus.com/donate/ 🌎Join the Healing and Freedom Community: https://markdejesus.com/community 📚Mark's books: https://markdejesus.com/books-by-mark-dejesus/ Music Provided by Epidemic Sound: https://share.epidemicsound.com/73m02k and Audiio: https://ref.audiio.com/3c99d6zk Mark's Podcast and Video Equipment: https://markdejesus.com/equipment/ Disclaimer: The content published is for informational purposes.
