We are back with Sunday live! I take an opportunity to share a great experience we had in Pennsylvania and our experience at the Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, PA. I also share some honest updates about my health journey and current findings in what I am working through. I also return to our Bible study on Philippians 2: 14–18 and show why “Do all things without complaining” is often misunderstood and misused. We look at what the Bible actually means by murmuring and grumbling—not just venting or being negative, but a secret, low‑level accusation against God’s character—and how that’s very different from honest pain, lament, and processing your struggles with the Lord. If you’ve ever battled OCD, scrupulosity, perfectionism, or felt condemned for “complaining,” this study can help realign you with God’s grace and the true word of life.
I move into a raw and practical Q&A that touches on themes many of you wrestle with: emotional immaturity and responsibility, fawning and people‑pleasing as trauma responses, how OCD and anxiety twist our view of God, and how all of this intersects with Scripture. We talk about Saul vs. David and why humility and willingness to work on your heart matter more than having a “perfect” record.
We look at 2 Peter 1: 10 and “make your calling and election sure” and see the empowerment there and the big picture of words, elect, called and chosen. I address questions from an in‑house lawyer dealing with severe moral scrupulosity and fear of doing wrong, and from believers terrified that God will judge them for “living under the law” because of their OCD. Throughout it all, I keep bringing us back to key biblical and mental health themes: God’s love and grace, emotional maturity, boundaries, trauma, self‑compassion, perseverance, and learning to walk—rather than white‑knuckle and perform—our way through the Christian life.
