Anxiety & Fear,pt2

A faithful warrior for the Truth, friend, & mentor died this week and passed into the Lord's presence without fear. There was no fear of death because he feared God above other circumstances and people. In fact, he wrote in his book THE GLORY OF HEAVEN "When a believer dies, it is not a tragedy; it is a triumph. It is God bringing His child to glory."-John MacArthur Do you see what biblical perspective does for us? Similarly, in his very helpful book THE FEAR FACTOR, Wayne Mack writes, "Wherever we have gone in the United States, we have seen decals [or t-shirts] on the back windows or bumpers of automobiles displaying the words 'No Fear.' That's a nice slogan. The problem is, it's true of no one. The truth is, there is no one who is without fear. Everyone is affected by this powerful emotion. God, of course, knows this human propensity and has therefore included much important information about it in the Bible. Significantly, you'll find fear mentioned at the very beginning of the Bible in Genesis 3:11. In that verse, we are told that Adam became afraid and did two things: he ran and hid, and he tried to cover up. As you read through the rest of the book of Genesis, the book of beginnings, you'll find fear described and exemplified on numerous occasions and in a variety of people. And what is true of the first book is true of the other sixty-five books of the Bible. Throughout Scripture, fear of one kind or another is on display as a very common human experience. No one can dispute the fact that as far as God is concerned, fear is a subject of gigantic proportions. And what Scripture indicates, human experience illustrates. Every person who lives and breathes has experienced some kind of fear--some more intensely and more frequently than others. But one thing all people have in common regardless of race, creed, gender, personality tendency, educational or economic status or age is the experience of being afraid." Would you like a biblical frame of reference on how to think about godly vs. ungodly fear? Would you like some biblical principles to put into practice to fight sinful fear with biblical faith?
