"Reap What You Sow" - What the Bible Really Says

Galatians 6: 7-8 says "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." Sounds straightforward, but "sowing a seed" has a very different meaning in many Word of Faith churches and from their teachers. In the New Age, I remember learning about the supposed spiritual laws of the universe, and one of those laws was the "Law of Sowing," which is strikingly similar (if not directly the same, with some verbiage exceptions) to what many prosperity teachers preach about "sowing" into your life. The idea was whatever you "sowed" in the physical and spiritual realm would manifest itself to you. If you sowed a seed of money, you reaped money. If you sowed a seed of happiness, you'd reap happiness, and so on and so forth. It was a way to manifest prosperity. (And this was before I knew there were people in the CHURCH teaching these things!) This Scripture is just one of many misused to support this bad theology. What does this scripture actually mean? Mike Winger helps break down scriptures sometimes misused by the New Age and Prosperity Preachers and corrects a common misunderstanding about biblical prosperity and the context of these verses.
