2 Lilias Trotter Courses on Islam by Zoom Webinar (MS604 & MS620)

Three colleagues of mine are teaching 2 New Courses which are being offered by the WESLEY BIBLICAL SEMINARY, in affiliation with the LILIAS TROTTER CENTER, beginning Monday, January 12, from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. (EST), and both taught by Zoom Webinar. To register for the courses, go to the Lilias Trotter Center registration page here: https://www.liliastrottercenter.org/ltc-online-courses 1) The MS604 "Apologetics and Polemics in Ministry among Muslim" course, beginning Monday, January 12, from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. (EST), teaching every Monday morning until May 1, 2026: Course Description: Jesus and His disciples modeled similar ministry methods in the New Testament, this course equips students to apply apologetics (defending the truth) and polemics (exposing and refuting error) in ministry among Muslims. Students will learn how to respond to common Muslim claims, e.g., that the Bible is corrupt, that Jesus only claimed to be a prophet, and that Christians have gone astray. In addition, the class will explore the work of popular scholars like Jay Smith and others who question the standard Islamic narrative about the origin of Islam. MS604 is team taught by Dr. Fred Farrokh and Dr. Steve Krstulovich. The Professors: REV. DR. FRED FARROKH is an international trainer with Global Initiative: Reaching Muslim Peoples, and an ordained missionary with Elim Fellowship. A Christian of Muslim background, he completed his PhD in Intercultural Studies through Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in 2014, with a dissertation on Muslim identity. He also directs Wasla Media, a YouTube channel for Muslim-background believers, which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/@WaslaMedia DR. STEVE KRSTULOVICH is the Director of Research at the Assemblies of God World Mission Global Initiative: Reaching Muslim Peoples. Prior to this Steve and his wife Donna served together for three years in Central Asia. He completed a PhD in Intercultural Studies to assist him in his role as a writer and international trainer to equip a new generation of leaders to share the good news of Jesus Christ with Muslims. 2) The MS620 "A Chronological Reading of the Qur'an and the Islamic Narrative of Muhammad", beginning January 13, from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. (EST), until May 1, 2026, and teaching every Tuesday and Friday mornings, for 15 weeks. Course Description: This course gives Muhammad a thorough hearing as students read through the Qur’an and the Sira, the oldest biography of his life. This course decodes the Qur’an and explains Muhammad’s ever-evolving narrative. It enables students, as an ‘academic jury’ throughout the semester, to render a verdict on Muhammad’s message based on his own words. Only Muslim clerics and intellectuals study these source documents at this academic level. MS620 will equip students to engage in conversations to the spiritual benefit of their Muslim friends, colleagues and neighbors. This course is rigorous yet rewarding. The Professor: REV. DR. BENJAMIN LEE HEGEMAN (aka, "Papa Ben") is a life-long, missiological researcher on Islam, a curriculum-writer, and a teacher with long-term experience in ministry to Muslims, in language learning, in cross-cultural missional ministry (Canada, Benin, Niger), and in pastoral care (Canada, Benin, Niger and the US). Together with his wife Christine, he has over 35 years of overseas experience working with Christians, traditional worshippers, and Muslims. He has taught all levels from bush schools to PhD students. He is passionate for disciple-making and missionary vision-casting. He is able to teach in Dutch, French, Baatonu, and even in English. All LTC courses are offered in partnership with Wesley Biblical Seminary for a significant discount of $1000 for three graduate credits. You can audit a course for just $300 (if you are resident in the USA, Canada, or non-majority country). Majority World students can audit this course for just $100.
