🔴 Fear Reading the Bible | Intrusive Anger | Compulsive Repentance

In this Sunday live, I talk about what it’s like to fear reading the Bible instead of experiencing it as a “fountain of life,” why verses like Romans 14:23 and other “scary” passages can trigger anxiety, OCD, scrupulosity, and perfectionism, and how a law-based lens keeps so many believers stuck in guilt, shame, and endless self-examination. I also address the struggle to feel connected to God’s love, the sense of distance from the Father, and how rejection, trauma, and distorted spiritual teaching shape our relationship with Him. I spend time unpacking intrusive thoughts and OCD battles—including intrusive anger, homicidal/suicidal thoughts, compulsive repentance loops, and the torment of feeling like “something is wrong with my heart.” I talk about mental health from a biblical and practical lens, how self-hatred and irritability often spill onto our marriages and families, and why many believers get trapped in endless “repent and renounce” cycles, especially around generational curses. I share how I see generational iniquity, what the Bible actually says about curses, law, and grace (Galatians 3, Abraham, the curse of the law), and why so much “deliverance” and generational teaching can unintentionally keep Christians more law-focused, fearful, and perfectionistic rather than rooted in righteousness, love, and process. We also dive into motherhood and Mother’s Day: the pressure on moms to be “great,” the Instagram comparison trap, lack of fun and passion, and how many women feel guilty, burned out, and alone. Melissa shares to moms who don’t have a good relationship with their mother—narcissistic, abusive, addicted, absent, or estranged—and we talk about grief, nurture wounds, and letting go of false guilt while learning to receive love as a precious daughter of God. We touch on separation anxiety, difficulty going places alone, and the pressure many Christian parents feel to give their kids constant activities, co-ops, and “perfect” social experiences, especially when homeschooling. There’s also a powerful, down-to-earth segment with our son Max, where we talk about worship anxiety, feeling awkward in praise, autism/OCD tendencies, routines, food and keto, sugar fog, and his creative passion for art and filmmaking.
