There is far more freedom in Christ than we could ever imagine and this broadcast gets into so many areas that seek to hinder the freedom and liberty that is available to us in Christ. This impacts our spiritual walk and our mental health in many ways. I talk about how this impacts decisions, calling and our desire to impact other peopls. I talk about how the Bible’s language of liberty, faith, and grace speaks directly into struggles with perfectionism, performance-based Christianity and the pressure to “get every decision just right.” We look at passages like Galatians, Romans 14, and James 4:17. I also dive into OCD, scrupulosity and the mental battles so many believers face: intrusive thoughts that attack your joy, faith, and sense of being “qualified” to be used by God. We tackle fears about your past disqualifying you, confusion over conviction, compulsive evangelism guilt and even spinning over things like watching secular TV, going to the gym or the disturbing urge to “give things up for God.” I share practical ways to practice gentle redirect, self-compassion, and nurture, while learning to live in God’s fatherly love instead of chasing quick fixes or trying to “fix yourself” through religious striving. Along the way, I open up about my own health journey with chronic fatigue and Epstein-Barr, the importance of rest, boundaries, and listening to your body, and how these valleys can become powerful learning seasons rather than just something to escape. I speak to those who are older and just beginning their healing journey, to those overwhelmed by marriage, finances, work, illness, and family pressure, and to anyone who feels stuck in shame and self-hatred.
